Leg, Ankle & Foot Pads

AORN 2020 Guidelines state thatElevating the heels in a manner that distributes the weight of the patient’s leg along the calf without putting pressure on the Achilles tendon and without hyperextending the knee is the most effective way to prevent pressure injuries to the heel and sacrum.Positioning devices used to reduce pressure injury to the heels are designed to work in one of three ways: by cradling the heel in a gel surface, by offloading the heel by supporting the Achilles tendon, or by providing a surface that distributes the weight of the patient’s leg along the calf.”  (AORN 2020 Guidelines- Positioning the Patient 9.8.1)
