The Professional™ Wheelchair cushion offers those users at higher risk of pressure injury development, or those with a history of pressure injuries, the most significant protection. A full 1 5/8” thickness of Akton® polymer immerses the user; protecting against damage from pressure, shear, and vibration. This is particularly important for active clients in a power wheelchair concerned about bottoming-out. The Professional™ can be purchased with an Economy Cover or Incontinent cover. Replacement covers are also available for purchase.
Economy Cover
Designed for the Pilot™, Professional™, Centurian™, and Commuter™ cushion; the Economy wheelchair cushion cover complements the simple, functional design of the cushion. The durable, stretchy, double-knit polyester ponte fabric is breathable and allows the pass through of any unwanted fluids or voids. The Stretch ponte fabric moves with the patient to reduce unwanted shear and friction. The Economy Cover features a non-slip PVC-coated polyester bottom with 1” durable nylon web handle, a wide opening with a 1” pull ring zipper for easy removal and replacement of the Action® Pad. The Economy Cover is CAL133 approved, DEHP/ Phthalate free and can be machine washed and dried. Replacement Economy Covers can also be purchased.
Incontinent Cover
Designed for the Pilot™, Professional™, Centurian™, and Commuter™ cushion; this wheelchair cushion cover features a top surface of low-shear polyester, pique knit material designed to protect the user from full contact with voids by allowing fluids to flow through to the moisture-resistant layer. The Incontinent Cover’s corners are reinforced with waterproof, durable polyurethane-coated 200D nylon oxford that is also used on the cover bottom. The bottom of the Incontinent cover features a strong, sewn-on nylon web carrying handle and mated hook and loop used to secure the cushion to the wheelchair. Replacement Incontinent Covers can also be purchased.
