Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between Akton® Viscoelastic polymer and gel?
AKTON polymer is a mild, synthetic rubber material that is completely solid. Its chemical structure is different than that of a gel in that it undergoes a vulcanizing cross-linking process that transforms the raw materials into a solid rubber material. AKTON polymer will not leak or flow if punctured, will not bottom out, does not migrate when in use and will hold its original shape for years to come.
What are the advantages of AKTON polymer over foam?
AKTON polymer will not cause the build-up of hot spots, will not collapse, will not absorb fluids and does not support bacterial growth. AKTON polymer also redistributes heat and weight across a product surface, making it ideal for use in the prevention and treatment of pressure ulcers. Its ability to significantly reduce shearing also contributes to overall performance. The film casing is extremely pliant yet very durable – making it ideal for shear management.
How do I clean ACTION pads and positioners?
Please refer to the care and use guides before using your products. In general, you can use the spray-wipe-rinse technique. Please stay away from alcohol based products. We recommend 1 part bleach to 10 parts water for the spray.
Does AKTON polymer contain latex or plasticizers?
AKTON polymer is an extremely soft synthetic rubber, which is free of latex and plasticizers. It should pose no problem for anyone with an allergy to any of the above.
How long do I have to wait for a custom product?
Turnaround time is approximately 2 to 4 weeks on custom orders. Please supply us with a diagram and specific product information. Remember to include how it will be used. Direct inquires to service@actionproducts.com.
How long is the warranty?
Action® positioning products and table pads are warranted for a period of two years against material defects. In many cases, AKTON polymer last many years beyond their warranty due to their inherent durability.
Does AKTON polymer freeze?
Akton® polymer remains pliable to -64 degrees Fahrenheit.
Does AKTON leak?
AKTON Polymer does not leak or flow. It is a solid. If cut or punctured the surface can easily be repaired using either our resurfacing patch KIT001 or our resurfacing roll KIT003, which contains a film that sticks to the surface over the damaged area.
Can Action's cushions be used with other seating products?
Yes, our cushions (which do not include foam under the polymer pad) conform to most contours of standard or customized cushions. They easily replace the expensive liquid gel pads, which may be prone to leakage and bottoming out.
How do I know I am getting an authentic Action® product?
All ACTION brand products have a logo printed on them. If you do not see one, then you know it is not authentic.
Can I evaluate Action® products before purchasing?
Due to infection control issues, we no longer offer product evaluations.
How do I private label Akton® polymer?
Please email service@actionproducts.com to inquire.
I have a new product idea. Who do I tell about it?
Please email service@actionproducts.com. We enjoy new ideas.
What GPOs are you affiliated with?
Please refer to our GPO Affiliates page.
Why do my products have different golden colors?
Due to variations in the polymer, the color will become deeper gold/amber as it thickens.
Who do I speak with about billing inquires?
Please email webpay@actionproducts.com about billing and payment questions.
